This is my Tree Caterpillar that I recently did for Cimex's magazine. The article is about companies green policies and whether they will be keeping them on in the current economic climate. They wanted a green beastie to go with it and a Caterpillar made of trees eating an industrial plant seemed good to me.
I like the Caterpillar and how happy it seems to be on the rampage destroying things and leaving a trail of trees behind it. I liked it so much that I had a go at doing it in spraypaint eating the new Cabot Circus at The Glos-tunbury festival. This was The Golden Lion pubs alternative to Glastonbury on the Gloucester Road in Bristol. It was a weekend of music, skateboarding on a temporary ramp and lots of Graff from Bristol artists - FLX, Dicey, Soker, 45 RPM, Rich T, Mr Jago, Cheo, Sepr, Hine and others.

Live Drawing at Bristol Design Festival
Back in June I did some live drawing on the opening night of The Bristol Design Festival along with other Bristol artists.
Here's my piece - Designasaurus.
And here are the pieces by the other three artists.....
Cheo.
Cheba.
China Mike.
Here's a pic of my work next to Mikes to give some idea of scale. The boards were roughly four foot square.

Shaolin
I recently did this illustration for Russian design magazine Interni. The article is on the architecture of a Shaolin Temple and all the different levels the monks must go through until they can gain entrance to the most holy shrine. They asked for it to be done in the style of a Pinball machine with the monks being launched around the different temple levels!
Following on from this piece I thought it would be great to do a Chinese Dragon along the same theme. I was given a large canvas to paint for Graffle and came up with this beast! I have made the Dragon up of temples, hills and trees. There is a kind of Great Wall along it's back.
The canvas is around 1.7m high and I painted it using Acrylics and Spraypaint. I'm really pleased with how it came out and plan on working more in this way in the future. Here's some close ups showing the monks hanging out and stuff.
The piece is currently on display at THE VILLAGE UNDERGROUND, 54 Holywell Lane, Shoreditch EC2A 3PQ until 20th July and then at PAINT WORKS, Bath Road, Bristol 9th Sept. It is then going to be auctioned off later this year - more details as and when soon.
Bathuanadon on cover of Bath Green Companion 2008
Last year my Bristol Dinosaur illustration was used on the first Bath Green Companion. This year I was commissioned to do a Bath Dinosaur for the cover of the 2008 edition.
The companion was launched last saturday in Bath and they gave out a few badges of my 'Bathuanadon' which are pretty neat! The guide is available in Bath and also here.
Here's a better pic of the beastie which is made up of famous Bath landmarks and also not so famous ones, like Snow Hill, Twerton Roundhill and Sainsburys! Signed prints edition of 100 can be bought from me for £60 + p&p. Drop me an email - andrew.council@gmail.com
